Outsourcing of Grid Computing

This work presents an overview of the outsourcing phenomenon applied to Grid Computing. Grid Computing is an exciting technology that has been making significant advances in academia since the development of the Globus Toolkit. In recent years, the technology has become more intriguing to the business world but there appears to be a void in the literature regarding the outsourcing of Grid Computing. The dearth of coverage on the topic is understandable because Grids are a relatively new and complex technology that researchers in the business field are not entirely familiar with. Furthermore, Grid Computing has existed primarily in the academic and research world since its inception, and the technology has not historically been viewed as a resource/service to be outsourced. The goal of this research is to determine the factors (e.g., cost, scalability, compatibility, etc), that have the largest influence on the business decision-making process to outsource Grid Computing.
